Island sans Sage Journal Page 2 Page 1, 3
Journal entry: I awoke to find myself in a small cottage with a cabana that looks out at the beach. There are fruit trees and palm trees like those on Earth. There are no crates or boxes here. But, the cottage is fully stocked. Today, I should check out the island.
Journal entry: There is a small mountain at the North end of the island. The waterfalls are just gorgeous! found two caves at opposite ends of the mountain where one could not only take shelter from a storm but set up housekeeping. I will stock them with emergency provisions. Found several fruit trees near the Southern tip. My cottage is about midway on the island. It has taken me over a week to explore. But, I am fairly certain that no other person is on the island.
Journal entry: It rains here during the night. Almost every night, while the sun shines every day. The temperature stays in the high 70's to the low 80's. Ideal for me. There are lots of flowers which I know my dear grandmother would have loved. There are no seasons to mark the passing of time. But then, time is of little consequence without civilization. I do not miss the hectic pace of life on earth. I especially do not miss television. I am also finding that I spend much less time focusing on how many possible selves I might be.
I do not miss shopping since I have the wardrobe module and can change my attire in less than 5 minutes now. The wardrobe computer module allows you to rearrange the molecules in an item and make it a new item. I had a brain scan that was programmed into the module so that part of the designing process was customized to my style and fashion preferences. Why bother programming in apparel that I would never ever want to wear. What ever I can think/visualize can become a garment. One of the best features is the custom fit - perfect every time. Plus, no laundry or ironing. I wonder if this is a little like The Emporer's New Clothes? Did you every read that fairy tale?
Journal entry: The room modules have been installed and I now have the convenience of rearranging the habitat at whim. They actually are working fairly well for such early versions. With these modules I am pretty well settled.
The food supplies have been arriving on a regular basis. As you know, I had the personal nutrition counter installed in my arm before we left earth. That has been working well and has not needed a battery change in all these years. I did read it wrong about 3 months ago and I took enough phosphorous extract that my fingernails and toenails actually glowed like fireflies in June. Just too funny!
Journal entry: That d----- frog I brought here as a pet for Simon makes me a complete nervous wreck on some days when it comes into my studio. I have started blocking off my door way to keep him out. But, then Simon yells, Come here, incessantly. I do not know which is worse the frog hopping or Simon yelling for him.
Journal entry: The galactic tides washed a small brown tin box ashore. I was hoping it contained a great treasure, but alas, it just had this
slip of paper which I took out and put in my found objects file. Never know when you might need it.
Journal entry: Mail today via the satellite transfer brought me this oil painting by a friend in San Antonio, TX of the USA on earth. She said that the tropical foliage reminded her of the photos I have sent her from my hide away here on the coast. I so adore getting mail art of all types. I miss my artist friends in my seclusion here on Island sans Sage.
